Look and you shall see; this lonely blue planet is being reshaped into a
technological battlefield. Entire nations are locked together in an unrelenting
grip, each struggling to be the first to uncover the secrets of Science,
Technology and the Arts. Great Eastern dragons have awakened such as Japan,
South Korea and China. Their self-appointed mission to push technology to its
very limit is benefiting all of mankind. Exclusive areas such as Silicon Valley
are the new centre of technological discoveries and advancements, obsessively
working day and night, aiming at one goal, that is, Perfection and Progression.
We are living in a revolutionary age which has never occurred in the
history of mankind. The Muslim world once carried the light of learning to the
corners of the globe. When this light was transferred to Europe it gave birth
to the European ‘Renaissance’ and today's Western modern and progressive civilisation.
President Obama stated in his address to the Muslim world from Cairo
that:
"It was Islam that carried the light of learning through so many
centuries, paving the way for Europe's Renaissance and enlightenment."
Regrettably, this quest for knowledge is not seen in the majority of
Islamic nations today. Most Islamic countries are now overwhelmed with
in-fighting, uprising, revolutions and rebellious behaviour that they are not
making a positive contribution to the rest of the world. They are wholly
consumed with their own needs and cannot co-exist in a peaceful manner which causes
the Western superpowers to look down on them with pity. This is in stark
contrast to the forward-thinking and innovative actions of the previous
generations in those same countries which President Obama acknowledges. They are
single-handedly destroying the great reputation the Islamic world used to have
in the eyes of other nations.
Religious, social and class issues are the constant battles occurring in
these modern Islamic nations and the governments as well as their citizens are
consumed by these problems that they do not understand how they are being seen
on the global stage.
The internet and social media are used by the citizens of Arab and
Middle Eastern countries to highlight their issues to the world but they do not
understand that only they can solve their issues by educating themselves and
removing all social, economic and religious boundaries which causes the
division and prejudice within their own people. Only after they lose all forms
of corruption, bigotry and chauvinism can they begin to gain some stability and
move into the 21st century otherwise they will forever be stuck in
the past with their ideologies, mind-set, attitudes and practices. The core
values of innovation, self-sufficiency, progress and development on an
individual, social and political level has been lost in these Islamic nations
which is the main reason for their turmoil, unrest and troubles.
The Libyan Information Secretary (Later the Foreign Secretary from
2000-2009) Abdul Rahman Shelgham summed up the plight of the Islamic nations in
an interview to Alan Cowell of the New York Times (14th Sept 1982). He said,
"We sit here watching the television, using the telephone and thinking we
are part of the 20th Century".
Brandishing a matchstick before him he exclaimed angrily "But we do
not even know how to produce this...You go to Saudi Arabia and you see a man
with a 16th Century mind driving a 20th Century car and thinking he is modern.
We think we are progressive because we are using the tools of civilisations,
but it is a mistake. We are not creating civilisation."
History has witnessed the vital contribution the Islamic world of
yesteryear had in the progression of modern civilisation. The forefathers of
today's Muslims were clothed with the garment of learning and technological
advancement.
Today, the Islamic nations are howling with protestations against either
other peoples or their own leaders. They should stop for a moment of silence.
They may then hear the distant voices of their glorious forefathers calling
through the millennia. Calling their progeny to re-join the unstoppable
technological race and to make a real contribution to the development of this
one global civilisation.

really very nice post, but i haven't think we need to compare 16th century to 20th century at every stage of mind kind life, every religious or peace loving people always said first love & respect the opposite person & their views, if this can be achieved, every body happy.
