Come November and it’s just not the changing fall colors and the increasing chill in the air that captivates our attention. Festive mood sets in and people gear up efforts and start preparing for the Holiday Season which can rightfully be termed the ‘Season of Giving and Sharing’.

QADIAN: Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Head of the Worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat has said that the authorities in India should end all forms of extremism in order to progress. Addressing the final day of the three day annual convention on Friday, Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said that if justice loving Hindus in India harm the interest of minorities in India due to political reasons then this would lead to destruction of peace in the country. This would further lead to disorder and decline in moral values in the society.

QADIAN: The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat’s Worldwide Spiritual Head Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad has warned that the world is fast moving towards another world war. CHINO - Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community from the western United States began gathering Friday at the Baitul Hameed Mosque for the first of three days of religious talks, fellowship and spiritual renewal.

More than 1,000 members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community are expected to take part in their 26th annual Convention West Coast USA.

The convention offers members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim faith a chance to attend seminars where they can increase their knowledge and understanding of the faith, pray together, but also take a moment to socialize, said Rashid Syed, public relations secretary for the Chino mosque.

Eighteen young Muslims will be spreading the message, and dispelling misconceptions, of their faith Saturday.

The Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat, Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad has sent a direct message to Pope Benedict XVI calling for the Pope to use his influence to encourage religious tolerance and the establishment of human values throughout the world.

The message was delivered personally by the President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat in Kababir, Muhammad Sharif Odeh, who met the Pope as part of an official delegation of renowned Israeli religious scholars.

Pakistan’s descent into crises is perhaps because capable and honest citizens are denied the right to contribute towards the country - even when the country desperately needs them. Many a patriotic Pakistanis have been banished and their role in the country’s progress ignored simply due to their religious affiliations.

Hudhur said there is a section of Muslims who follow the so-called religious leaders whose business is to create disorder. A Large majority are unconnected to religion and perhaps only offer Eid Salat or the odd Friday Salat. Others are wary of any kind of strictness in religion or are fearful of fatwas by religious leaders and thus remain silent. There are also a number of people who, in spite of having little knowledge of Islam, wish that objections raised by people outside Islam are responded to.

Muhammed Chaudhry is one of this year's 40 Under 40 honorees.

Chaudhry, 37, is a prominent voice for education in the Silicon Valley.

He started with the San Jose-based Silicon Valley Education Foundation in 2001 when it had three employees, a $150,000 budget, and a trailer for its headquarters. Since then, he has grown it into a 30-member staff with $5 million budget and $5 million in assets (and much nicer headquarters).

Dr Ahsan Khan is an ophthalmologist and Director of the Gift of Sight program for Humanity First USA and his mission is to provide volunteer eye care to those in need, throughout the world.

Under Dr. Khan's leadership Gift of Sight mission has just returned from their 2nd successful eye camp in Guatemala.

The first mission was also held in Guatemala in 2010.

With the great deal of controversy we see in the news concerning Islam, we often forget that Islam is at it’s heart a spiritually transforming tradition. Islam is designed to transmit the message of the Holy Qur’an. As a result of this, it is always good to see when the message of the Holy Qur’an is explained or delivered to a wide audience.

In November of 2011 the head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Haifa, Israel presented a copy of the Holy Qur’an to Pope Benedict XVI. The Amir of the Ahmadiyya Community in Haifa Shareef Odeh is deeply involved in the faith community of Israel. In fact the Kababir mosque and community has existed in Israel before the establishment of the country in 1948.

This 11-year-old Muslim-American wonders how I can give thanks in this holiday season. The world seems like a crazy place these days. People are blowing themselves up in places like Pakistan and someone recently even tried to shoot at the president from outside the White House.

Sadly, many of these fanatics are doing it in the name of God. Some even say they belong to my faith, Islam.

FITCHBURG -- Immigrants across the region put their own ethnic spin on the holiday.

This Thanksgiving marks the 31st year that Bashir Uddin Mehmud came to America from Pakistan.

Mehmud is president of the Fitchburg chapter of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and serves as the imam.

This past Saturday Cross Cultures Magazine (CCM) presented a multi-faith gathering, or ‘Panorama of Sacred Expression’ hosted at Forest Hill United Church in Kitchener. Albeit a small gathering, those in attendance presented a mosaic of beliefs and stimulated a great deal of conversation. Event promotions described the event as an opportunity to share all things sacred from various religious faiths and denominations, and challenged anyone to “prove your faith has taught you love for all mankind.”

The Mansoor Ijaz affair is the most disgraceful diplomatic episode in Pakistan’s history. It demonstrates the extent to which the foreign policy establishment has deteriorated because of the appointment of persons of questionable probity as envoys to key capitals.

Mohammad Abdus Salam (1926-1996) was his full name, which may add to the knowledge of those who wish he was either not Ahmadi or Pakistani. The man proudly lived and died as both, and much more, as Pakistan disowned him, in life and in death. The government denied him the honour of a state funeral; the media remained absent from the burial ceremony at Rabwah, which has since been renamed not after Abdus Salam but as Chenab Nagar, just to spite its Ahmadi residents.

FAISALABAD: Pakistan’s only Nobel Laureate Dr Abdus Salam’s 15th death anniversary on Monday was not commemorated in the country.

The Physics genius was born in a small town Jhang on January 29, 1926, a little over 85 years ago.

In 1979, Salam shared the Nobel Prize with Steven Weinberg and Sheldon Glashow for the historic unification of the weak nuclear force with the electromagnetic force.

After reading his article, I suddenly remembered meeting him back in 1990, after he delivered a thought-provoking lecture in the School of African and Oriental Studies in London. The fact that a very unassuming Pakistani social scientist could receive so much respect and honour by his fellow professors present was both very touching and inspiring.

Blasphemy law abused by Islamist groups to take action against dissenters

Vatican City, (KAP): The chairman of the Pakistani bishops' conference, Bishop Joseph Coutts, has accused the state authorities’ inaction against a growing Islamic extremism in the country.

"Religious minorities are discriminated against in Pakistan and the government and the institutions of the country remain silent," said Coutts before the Vatican press service "Faith".

Some Massachusetts public school students have a day off this week, but it has nothing to do with power outages or snow.

The Cambridge school system is believed to be the first in Massachusetts to give all students a day off for a Muslim holiday.

Students are getting Tuesday off for Eid al-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, the Boston Globe reports.

Eid al-Adha is based on the Old Testament and Quran story about Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son, Ishmael, in an act of submission to God’s will.

Traditionally, Eid al-Adha falls on the 10th day of the final month of the Islamic calendar, the day after the pilgrims perform their Hajj — the annual pilgrimage to Mecca — and descend from Mount Arafat.

Xavier William, president of the humanitarian rights group Life for All, has been working as an activist in Pakistan since 2004. He says he and his colleagues regularly receive threats for their work, but that that "they don't stop us."

"If we don't speak up, somebody has to," he says.

None of the three children in the Chaudhary household have ever set foot in their ancestral country of Pakistan. But to them, their parents and 75,000 other Muslims who call Calgary home, loyalty to family traditions still runs deep.

Libya’s interim government, following the death of Muammar Gadaffi, has announced that “Sharia law” will govern the country. A great deal of fear and skepticism has developed regarding Sharia law. The application of Sharia law during the time of Prophet Muhammad and his four Caliphs, however, demonstrates what Muslim states refer to as Sharia law is anything but.

War is the greatest injustice mankind can inflict on itself.

Unfortunately, not a day has passed for centuries when somewhere and somehow one nation was not at war with the other. It appears that war is a natural state of being for our species. And as we are still learning to attain peace in our world, we sometimes have to take sides in such wars. Especially when our country, nation or way of life is under threat.

What was gained through this trip in life experience and personal growth, let alone occupational skills and actual field work, is incomparable. I was one of few blessed with the opportunity to be a component of this phenomenal Gift of Sight mission team.

One of the truths of human existence is religious conflict. Those conflicts exist not just between different religions but within religions. Christians understand this through experience. There is great diversity within the Christian faith and with that diversity has come disagreement and plenty of violence. The war in Iraq illustrated, however, that American Christians (and Americans in general) had little understanding of the diversity within Islam. Policy makers struggled to explain the difference between Sunni and Shia Muslims and why those differences sparked sectarian violence after the fall of Saddam Hussein.

WASHINGTON - There is nothing subtle about Frank Miller's newest graphic novel, Holy Terror. The book opens with the quote: "If you meet the infidel, kill the infidel", which Mr Miller attributes to the Prophet. From there the jingoism, violence and Islamophobia take off.

What's common between the following Halloween costumes? A guy who painted his neck red, pretending to be a redneck, his friend wearing a white T-shirt which has "wife beater" written on it, and his friend dressed like a Hasidic Jew keeping a tight grip (literally) over a pack of fake dollar bills.

All three of them represent ethnic or religious stereotyping.

Keeping that in mind, what should you say to someone using hijab, a Muslim woman's head cover, while going to "trick or treat" or a Halloween party? Bad idea.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge today issued a worldwide appeal on behalf of 13 million victims of the African famine - their first joint humanitarian mission.

It’s good to be back in Guatemala. Day two is over and I can say it felt like a great success. And all those countries who have signed this declaration are duty-bound, morally and legally, to abide to all articles, clauses and regulations stipulated in this declaration. The very first article of this declaration speaks that ‘all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights’. That is to say that each and every single human being irrespective of colour, faith and politics has the right of freedom, equality, dignity and liberty. And that freedom should not be compromised and ignored by any member state of the United Notations.

CAIRO — Libya’s new leaders said they intend to make Islamic Sharia law the main source of legislation and will nullify any laws that contradict its tenets, giving the country a more Islamist character in the post-Moammar Gadhafi era.

Islamic law, or Sharia, is enshrined as the basis of the constitution in a number of Middle Eastern countries with Muslim majorities. Most Gulf nations’ constitutions state that Sharia is a main source of legislation, while Egypt says it is “the source.”
