World: The search for Peace lives on through us

Thousands of Muslim men from across the world unifying under the leadership of His Holiness Mirza Masroor Ahmad promising to be peaceful and serve humanity

In this brief moment in time, I stand, as a young Ahmadi Muslim on the search for one thing. One seemingly unattainable concept. A concept which is innate, intrinsic, interwoven into the heart and mind of mankind. However, this overarching theme of life seems to be covered by man’s desire for materialism, possessions and pleasure.

This concept is eternally alive and never dies, only waiting for man to wake up and understand this concept is the answer for all humanity. No one concept possesses more power, charm, delight, love, unity and harmony. Readers might be anxious wanting to know what the answer to man’s troubles and pain is. The one glorious concept is Peace.

No man can live content without it, no government can govern fairly in its absence. Peace is for every man, woman, child, without prejudice and distinction, it knows no boundaries and comes in many forms. Social Peace, Socio-economic Peace, Economic Peace, Peace in Politics, Inter-religious Peace and Individual Peace. Yet this concept has been disregarded by many, undermining its importance, Surely! they are the losers.

Islam’s Response to Contemporary Issues is a book written by His Holiness Mirza Tahir Ahmad, in its introduction he writes about the absence of Peace:

“The single most important malady of the world today is the absence of peace. In the contemporary world, man, as a whole, has reached a high standard of achievement in material progress, made possible by the advancement of science and technology in every sphere of human requirement at a mind-boggling pace.

No doubt, the more fortunate sections of human society, known as the First and Second World, have a much larger share of the fruits of scientific progress in the contemporary age, but the Third World has also benefited to a degree. Rays of progress have penetrated even the innermost recesses of the darkest areas, where a section of human society still lives in a remote past. Nevertheless, man is not happy and content.

There is growing restlessness, fear, premonition, lack of trust in the future and dissatisfaction with one’s heritage. These are some of the important elements, which challenge the nature of the contemporary world. It, in turn, gives birth to a deep-seated dissatisfaction of man either with his past or with his present; particularly, it runs deep in the formative thought processes of the younger generation. Man is in search of peace.”

There is only one community, organisation, association at the forefront of the search for Peace in this world. That movement is the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.
