Pakistan: "The Bible is Blasphemous"

Bible Ban report: The Holy Scripture read by billions and followed by many religious people is in the process of being banned in Pakistan. A small minority of so called "Muslim Clerics" in the torn nation have suspected a book of God to be "blasphemous". While addressing a Press Conference, leader Maulana Abdul Rauf Farooqi and others pleaded the Supreme Court of Pakistan to take notice of the "blasphemous" material in the Bible. "Otherwise we will be compelled to move the court to ban the book completely, on which a panel of lawyers is already working", they added.

Farooqi said, he and his colleagues want to reply to the blasphemers in an equally insulting attack, but Islam does not allow repeating such heinous activities. "We will not follow the footsteps of Terry Jones and will not burn the holy book", he said. He mentioned that some other punishment-mode would be devised.

The world was witness, in March of this year, to the hateful act of Rev. Terry Jones as he burnt a few Holy Qurans in Florida which the world condemned and objected to. Religion, Islam and Christianity, promotes tolerance and the protection of another’s beliefs and sentiments. The Holy Prophet of Islam (on whom be peace) clearly stated to the world 1400 years ago that:

"I promise that any monk or wayfarer who will seek my help on the mountains, in forests, deserts, or habitations, or in places of worship, I will repel his enemies with my friends and helpers, with all my relatives and with all those who profess to follow me and will defend them, because they are my covenant…No bishop will be expelled from his bishopric, no monk from his monastery, no priest from his place of worship, and no pilgrim will be detained in his pilgrimage. None of their churches or other places of worship will be desolated or destroyed or demolished. No material of their churches will be used to build mosques or houses for the Muslims…I give them my word of honour. They are on my promise and covenant and will enjoy perfect immunity from all sorts of inconveniences…Let this document not be disobeyed till Judgment Day."

According to the Prophet of Islam (on whom be peace) we should not only be tolerant to all religions but should actively protect them, their places of worship and their religious material. This beautiful teaching has been disobeyed by a few men in Pakistan.

As a Muslim and a follower of the Holy Prophet of Islam (on whom be peace), this attack on the Holy Bible hurts as much as it would hurt me if the Holy Quran, Torah, Adi Granth or any other Holy scripture was attacked. The world must understand that this minority of Muslim Clerics does not represent any religion or religious ideology as much as Rev. Jones and his actions does not represent the views of Christianity. I hope that Muslims who are reading this article understand what their role is to all religions and religious people. We pray that Muslims around the world live up to the peaceful teachings of their beloved Prophet (on whom be peace).
