UK: “A big thank you” to Muslim Youth - helping beat blood cancers

Press release: Young Muslims spent their Spring Bank Holiday weekend raising money for charity.

Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association UK deployed volunteers to collect cash for Leukemia and Lymphoma Research at Wickes department stores nationwide for the second successive year.

Cathy Gilman, Chief Executive of Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research said:

"A big thank you to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association UK (AMYA) who helped our charity with the Wickes May Bank Holiday Collection. Their volunteers helped us almost 100 Wickes stores across the country and collect a considerable amount of money. This is the second year they have helped with the Wickes collection, they also volunteer as marshals at our London Bikeathon, and we very much value their contribution to beating blood cancers."

President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association UK, Mr Fahim Anwer, said:

"It is an extremely difficult thing to see a child suffering the burning pains of blood cancer. If there is anything the Ahmadiyya Muslim youth can do to help better the lives of these children then we are here to help them."

Earlier this month AMYA organised a 10K charity run which raised in excess of £100,000 for various British causes.
