Vaccines save lives: Microsoft founder Bill Gates has pledged a mammoth $1 billion to make sure children in the poorest nations have the same access to vital vaccines as their wealthy counterparts. The Gates Foundation has pledged this amount to help vaccinate children against preventable diseases.
The Global Alliance on Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI) said the effort could help save four million lives in four years. The need for vaccinations in the developing world is increasing and Gates is trying to move nations to donate to this cause, he has asked countries around the world to contribute and provide $3.7 billion towards vaccine equality by 2015, which has been labelled as ambitious but achievable.
