Africa: Nigeria rattled by UN bombing
The UN offices in Ajuba, Nigeria have been car bombed by a Nigerian Islamist terror group calling themselves Boko Haram (Boko in Hausa language means Western Education and Haram in Arabic means forbidden, hence ‘The Western Education is Forbidden Terrorist Group’).
The current death toll is 18 and rising; over 60 people have been injured.
The Ahmadiyya Post team and its global readership can only pray for the families of the victims and for the whole nation to exercise patience in this moment of crisis. The government should be allowed to maintain civil order and be assisted to apprehend the perpetrators as quickly as possible.
Every spiritual person knows that such murderous and cowardly actions are never condoned by any religion, particularly Islam. The Holy Quran says:
Whosoever killed a person ...it shall be as if he had killed all mankind; and whoso gave life to one, it shall be as if he had given life to all mankind. [Holy Quran, 5:33]
The world is just coming to terms with the Norwegian massacre by the Christian right wing extremist, Anders Behring Breivik. Now this Nigerian terrorist group using religion to push forward its murderous political agenda is causing pain in the hearts of all peace loving people world-wide.
All murderers should be looked upon simply as murderers, whether they do it in the “name” of religion or not. Hate and intolerance has no place in any religion and these people should not be portrayed as representing any religion or religious people.
