For all those that don’t already know, Tom Brady, an American football quarterback for the New England Patriots of the NFL has played in four Super Bowls, winning three of them. He has also won two Super Bowl MVP awards and has been selected to six Pro Bowls holding the NFL record for most touchdown passes in a single regular season. He was named Sports Illustrated's Sportsman of the Year in 2005, and was named "Sportsman of the Year" by The Sporting News in 2004 and 2007.
He was also named the 2007 and 2010 NFL MVP as well as 2007 Male Athlete of the Year by the Associated Press, the first time an NFL player has been honoured since Joe Montana won in 1990. Many analysts, including those at the NFL Network, have called Brady one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.
Before the 2011 season, his fellow players voted him the best player in the NFL. Knowing this, the question is what makes this ‘super athlete’ tick? Does he have a superior work ethic that drives him to success? And can we use that same work ethic to succeed in our lives?
Eric Mangini was around for those early Brady years in New England, first as defensive backs coach (2000-04) and then defensive coordinator (2005). Mangini recollected working against Brady during post-practice sessions and what stood out in the young quarterback.
“The one thing you saw consistently, though, was his determination, his work ethic, his character,” Mangini said. “You felt strongly that he was going to continue to improve. I don’t think anyone initially thought he would be the Tom Brady we know today, but you could see the attributes he had and how he was using those to improve. He became the quarterback that he is because of his work ethic.”
Brady values hard-work and understands how it can propel a person to global success. His mental strength is what pushed him to succeed which gave him the edge over fellow competitors who were as big and as talented as him. If you have the same focus, dedication and determination that Brady displays on the pitch, whether you are in High School, Law School or starting your own business, you will succeed in life and will smash through any obstacles put in your way.

Mangini goes on to say “I would imagine people take that for granted. What I appreciate about Tom is that he stayed the same grounded, good person, regardless of how much success he’s had.”
