New York: The Truth About The 'Ground Zero Mosque'

Post 9/11 America is a nation in shock and still mourning the 3,000 lives lost on that fatal day in New York City. All religious leaders showed sympathy to the American families who’s safety and security was stripped from them by the actions of a few extremists.

With extremist groups claiming responsibility for the attacks and insanely claiming that they did this inhumanity in the name of Islam (which means Peace), most Muslims were left appalled and had to defend their religion by showing the true teachings of their peace-loving religion. Every sane Muslim disassociated themselves from the all extermists condemned their actions of massacring innocent people.

Those terrorist groups such as Al-Qaeda and the Taliban represent Islam as much a the Klu Klux Klan and the IRA represent Christianity and Christian values. They do not represent any part of religion in any shape or form and their viewpoint doesn’t belong in religion. Their sole purpose is political power and materialism as opposed to religion and spirituality.

Knowing this and the sour taste in the mouth of all Americans after the 9/11 attacks, a few so called Muslim leaders with twisted minds and bad taste took it upon themselves to propose the erection of a mosque very close to the Ground Zero memorial site. The $100 million 13-story complex housing a Mosque is unnecessary according to most New Yorkers.

The mosque project organisers scandalously plead their case by claiming that Park 51 (Ground Zero Mosque) is intended to be “a platform for multi-faith dialogue. It will strive to promote inter-community peace, tolerance and understanding locally in New York City, nationally in America, and globally." The Holy Quran, a guidance for all mankind, descibes the situation of such people most succinctly:

And when it is said to them: ‘Create not disorder on the earth,’ they say: ‘We are only promoters of peace.’(Holy Quran, 2:12)

Many oppose the plan and say that simply building a $100 million Islamic centre won’t cause any religious tolerance and social-cohesion in a city still hurting and mourning the attacks by a militant terror group claiming to be linked to Islam.

His Holiness Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Head of the Worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, commented on the plans to build a mosque near ground zero, where he stated:

“If a mosque is built at the proposed site, then the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community would like to see churches, synagogues, Hindu places of worship and places of worship of all other religions also built near Ground Zero. That would be a good example of how from an act of evil and terror has emerged unity and peace.”

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is the oldest Muslim Community in the US. As an Islamic Community it is at the forefront of condemning terrorism in all its guises.
