Religion: The need for constant prayer

People have been praying to God in one form or another since the beginning of mankind.

"Then Adam learnt from his Lord certain words of prayer." [Holy Qur'an, 2:38]

This is a practice which has come across the mind of almost every living person. So there must be an innate human need to worship, praise and interact with God.

"O ye men worship your Lord Who created you and those before you" [Holy Qur'an, 2:22]

This need is usually amplified when a person is in distress or pain and has nobody to turn to. When a person realises nobody has the power to help them improve their situation it suddenly becomes clear that they need God's help.

"....seek help with patience and prayer; surely, Allah is with the steadfast." [Holy Qur'an, 2:154]

Although God does answer the prayers of those in need it is very ungrateful to only recognise him when one feels helpless and when all is better God is ignored or forgotten.

Therefore, a person who understands this fundamental characteristic of themselves will pray to him in all circumstances and at all times, as all people know that there is no power or help like His.

"....'I am near. I answer the prayer of the supplicant when he prays to Me. So they should hearken to Me and believe in Me" [Holy Qur'an, 2:187]
