Opinion: Islam and the 21st Century

In the busy and lively atmosphere of London we feel as if we are in the most modern and progressive city in the world. However, the aspects of life that seems to be overlooked in this great city is spirituality, community and an emphasis on morality.

This is because of the lack of belief in religion and its teaching as most people feel as if religious practices and ideals are out-dated.
This has led to the decline in social awareness and responsibility as well as the duty to help others. Therefore society has emphasised individual achievement at all costs. This is where religions such as Islam comes into play as it safeguards all people, the rich and the poor, the educated and the uneducated, the healthy and the unhealthy, the old and the young.

At its core all religions of the past express the same teachings which are simply to worship one God (the creator) and to serve or help mankind (His creation).

Therefore if we all focus on these basic principles there will be no disorder, chaos or conflict in the world. This is expressed in the beautiful teachings of Ahmadiyyat, the revivalist movement within Islam, with its all inclusive motto:

"Love for All, Hatred for None"
